The competition for the Heisman Trophy has been intense since the beginning of the season. And the fight for the top spot has always kept the players on the verge of excitement. However, the most controversial rivalry fight is going on between Boise State’s cornerback Ashton Jeanty and Buffs star two-way player Travis Hunter. “I’m Making Records Not Chasing Them‼️” said Hunter after making a grand comeback against Bearcats, taking a jab at his fellow Heisman foe, Ashton. Now that Ashton is almost on top of every analyst’s rankings for the Heisman odds, Travis Hunter’s hopes are taking a serious hit.
Today, CBS Sports took to their official Instagram page to share a carousel post of their analyst’s rankings of the top 3 Heisman contenders of week 10, saying, “Which ICF Heisman ballot are y’all rocking with? 👀” Well, almost every one of them gave Ashton a higher rank than Travis Hunter, and surprisingly, some didn’t even rank him. This clearly projected that Ashton Jeanty is the ultimate Heisman favorite. In the first slide, analyst Brian Jones gave 1st rank to Cam Ward, followed by Ashton Jeanty and Shedeur Sanders. Looks like no luck for Hunter.

Then analyst Rick Neuheisel again didn’t give any rankings to Travis Hunter, giving an edge to Ashton Jeanty with the 3rd rank. The same goes for analyst Aaron Taylor, who also assigned a third-place ranking to Jeanty but did not rank Hunter. However, there is only one CBS analyst, Randy Cross, who gave Hunter a 3rd ranking, but he made sure to give Ashton an edge over him with a 2nd rank.

Well, there is no doubt that Ashton Jeanty putting up a strong game this season with his 126 rushes for 1248 yards and 17 touchdowns. However, that doesn’t imply that Hunter is completely undeserving of a ranking. It’s quite delusional to even think that; however, not everyone thinks he is an undeserving contender for Heisman.
Travis Hunter Heisman hopes to get a boost
Despite many analysts considering Ashton a stronger Heisman contender than Hunter, he received a solid endorsement from a three-time national championship-winning football coach and Fox Sports analyst Urban Meyer. That has to mean something, right? A few days ago, Meyer expressed his unwavering support for Travis Hunter on “The Triple Option” show, believing Hunter is superior to all other Heisman contenders this year. Urban said, “The Heisman is for the best player in college football, and I really think this guy—those guys are really good—II just think he’s just a little bit better than all of them. Matter of fact, he’s better, and it’s Travis Hunter.”.

The two-way star has recorded 757 yards on 60 receptions with 8 touchdowns. Also, as a cornerback, Hunter has 20 tackles in total, of which 13 are solo tackles with two interceptions. These are more than enough for him to be a strong contender for the Heisman race. However, the million-dollar question is, are these stats enough to get Hunter to his ultimate goals, as CBS Sports doesn’t even give him a proper rank? Will get to know that real soon; till then, keep supporting your favorite player.
